Stop the America Praise Initiative

The White House has launched the "America Praise" initiative, a taxpayer-funded program that promotes and sponsors religious events — including a nationally promoted praise event on May 17th — in direct conflict with the First Amendment's Establishment Clause. The Establishment Clause explicitly prohibits the federal government from endorsing, sponsoring, or promoting religion. Using public funds and the prestige of federal office to organize or amplify religious worship events crosses that constitutional line, regardless of the faith tradition involved.

This initiative raises serious legal and civic concerns. Government sponsorship of religious events — even framed as patriotic or voluntary — creates the appearance of official endorsement of religion, which the Supreme Court has repeatedly held to be unconstitutional. It also risks marginalizing Americans of minority faiths and those with no religious affiliation, who make up a growing share of the population.

Constituents are urging their federal representatives to speak out against the America Praise initiative, call for a halt to any taxpayer funding or White House promotion of the event, and support oversight measures to ensure the executive branch complies with First Amendment requirements. Congress has both the authority and the responsibility to check executive actions that may violate constitutional boundaries.

Hello, I am an assistant calling on behalf of a constituent, {{first_name}} {{last_name}} from {{city}}, {{state}} zip code {{zip_code}}. The constituent is calling to urge {{representative_name}} to oppose the White House's "America Praise" initiative, which uses taxpayer resources and the platform of the federal government to sponsor and promote religious events — a potential violation of the First Amendment's Establishment Clause. The constituent respectfully requests that {{representative_name}} take the following actions: First, publicly oppose the use of federal resources, including White House staff time, communications infrastructure, and any appropriated funds, to organize or promote the America Praise initiative or similar government-sponsored religious events. Second, support congressional oversight to determine whether this initiative violates the Establishment Clause and whether any federal funds have been improperly directed toward it. Third, co-sponsor or support legislation that reinforces the constitutional prohibition on government endorsement of religion and ensures accountability for executive branch compliance with the First Amendment. The Establishment Clause exists to protect all Americans — people of every faith and of no faith — from government-imposed religious preferences. The constituent asks that {{representative_name}} stand up for that foundational constitutional principle.
