Support TPS Extension for Haitian Immigrants – Urge Senate to Pass H.R. 1689

Nearly 350,000 Haitian immigrants living in the United States are at risk of losing their legal status under the current administration's push to end Temporary Protected Status (TPS). TPS was first granted to Haitians in 2010 following a catastrophic earthquake that killed over 300,000 people and displaced 1.5 million more. Since then, protections have been extended repeatedly due to ongoing instability, gang violence, and dangerous conditions that make safe return impossible. Critics argue that claims of sufficient stabilization in Haiti do not reflect conditions on the ground.

These are individuals who came to the United States lawfully, built lives in our communities, pay taxes, and contribute to vital industries — including healthcare. A federal court has already blocked one attempt to end TPS protections, underscoring the legal and humanitarian concerns at stake.

The House passed H.R. 1689 on April 17, 2026, by a bipartisan vote of 224–204, extending TPS protections for Haitians through 2029. Ten Republicans crossed the aisle to support the measure. The bill now moves to the Senate. Urge your senators to pass H.R. 1689 and ensure that nearly 350,000 people are not forced to return to a country where their safety cannot be guaranteed.

Hello, I am an assistant calling on behalf of a constituent, {{first_name}} {{last_name}} from {{city}}, {{state}} zip code {{zip_code}}. I'm calling to urge {{representative_name}} to support H.R. 1689, the bill to extend Temporary Protected Status for Haitian immigrants through 2029. The House already passed this bill with bipartisan support, and it is now before the Senate. These nearly 350,000 individuals are here legally — they pay taxes, work in critical fields like healthcare, and are deeply woven into our communities. Conditions in Haiti remain dangerous, and returning them now would put lives at risk. Please vote yes on H.R. 1689 and stand up for these families.
