Extend ACA Premium Tax Credits

Enhanced Affordable Care Act (ACA) premium tax credits, first expanded under the American Rescue Plan and later extended through the Inflation Reduction Act, expired at the end of 2025. These credits cut out-of-pocket premiums by more than half, on average, for over 20 million Americans who purchase health insurance through the ACA marketplaces. Without renewal, average benchmark premiums are projected to rise by as much as 114% — from roughly $888 per month in 2025 to $1,904 in 2026 — pricing millions of working families out of coverage entirely.

The stakes are compounded by the One Big Beautiful Bill Act of 2025, which includes significant Medicaid cuts. Together, the lapse of enhanced premium tax credits and Medicaid reductions could leave an estimated 30 million additional Americans uninsured over the next decade. Low- and middle-income households, rural communities, older adults, and people with chronic or serious illnesses — including cancer patients — face the greatest risk of losing access to care.

Constituents are urging U.S. Senators to pass legislation that permanently or durably extends the ACA enhanced premium tax credits. Doing so would preserve affordable marketplace coverage, stabilize insurance markets, and serve as a necessary counterweight to concurrent reductions in Medicaid eligibility and funding.

Hello, I am an assistant calling on behalf of a constituent, {{first_name}} {{last_name}} from {{city}}, {{state}} zip code {{zip_code}}. The constituent is calling to urge {{representative_name}} to support and vote for legislation extending the Affordable Care Act's enhanced premium tax credits, which expired at the end of 2025. Over 20 million Americans relied on these credits to afford health insurance. Without them, average monthly premiums are projected to more than double — rising by as much as 114% in 2026 alone. Combined with the Medicaid cuts in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act of 2025, policy analysts project up to 30 million additional Americans could become uninsured over the next decade. The constituent respectfully asks {{representative_name}} to: 1. Support Senate legislation that extends or makes permanent the ACA enhanced premium tax credits. 2. Oppose any budget or reconciliation package that allows these credits to lapse without replacement. 3. Consider the compounding harm of simultaneous Medicaid cuts on low- and middle-income constituents in {{state}}. Affordable health coverage is a kitchen-table issue for millions of working families. The constituent urges {{representative_name}} to act without delay.
